Das Wort Sperrschicht bezeichnet im Allgemeinen eine undurchlässige Schicht

• in der Elektronik eine außen ladungsneutral erscheinende Zone, siehe Raumladungszone sowie p-n-Übergang und Schottky-Diode
• in der Werkstofftechnik eine für Chemikalien undurchlässige Schicht (siehe Korrosionsschutz)
• in der Meteorologie eine Luftschicht, die zwei Teile der Erdatmosphäre voneinander trennt
• in der Bautechnik eine Dichtung (z. B. Folie), die die Ausbreitung von Wasser im Mauerwerk verhindert
